Hyrule is facing an unprecedented economic meltdown this week as the once-stable rupee has plummeted in value. Economists—and several panicked shopkeepers—are pointing fingers at none other than Link Arrowfield, famed hero of time and destroyer of pottery.

“I knew he was collecting rupees in dungeons, but smashing every pot in sight? This is literal inflation!” said Teba, a Gerudo market vendor. “I can’t sell a single arrow for less than 5 rupees now. It’s chaos!”

The so-called “Pot-Smash Inflation” began after Link, in his quest to rescue Princess Zelda once again, inadvertently destroyed hundreds of collectible rupee pots across Hyrule’s towns and dungeons. Citizens report the sudden influx of loose rupees flooding the local economy has caused:

Hyrule’s Treasury Department has officially declared a state of emergency, citing the difficulty of controlling rupee circulation across multiple timelines. The department proposed issuing digital rupees on SkyloftPay, but critics warn it may cause more glitches in the economy than Link does in dungeons.

Economist Professor Impa stated:

“While Link’s actions are heroic in battle, his pot-smashing spree is the equivalent of printing endless fiat currency. We’re seeing hyper-rupee inflation, and if this continues, even the Great Deku Tree may start charging rent.”

Link has yet to comment, though witnesses claim he was last seen jumping into a treasure chest full of rupees and laughing nervously. Zelda’s office declined to comment, citing “timeline-sensitive fiscal responsibility.”
